I am a Junior Researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon (ICS-ULisboa); and co-coordinator of the Research Group SHIFT – Environment, Territory and Society. Within this institutional frame I’ve been conducting research on the changing humans-nature relationship underlying the challenges of the Anthropocene, addressing the limitations of global environmental change and urban agendas in coping with those challenges. I’ve done that specifically by researching the potential of overlooked epistemologies and underexplored imaginaries, within and beyond formal institutions of knowledge production. I’ve been increasingly interested in researching the conflictive dynamics and frictions between global and local imaginaries of urbanization through an imaginary lens and a post-colonial approach. My current research project focuses on the peripheral and semi-peripheral urban contexts of Luanda and Lisbon, the socio-technical and socio-ecological imaginaries conveyed by public agents, social movements and popular culture.
